Top 10 "Hair Bands"

  1. Def Leppard
  2. Bon Jovi
  3. Twisted Sister
  4. Gun 'n' Roses
  5. Van Halen (Hagar)
  6. Poison
  7. The Cult
  8. Scorpions
  9. Kiss
  10. Van Halen (Roth)

I guess Def Leppard use to be one of my favorite bands in the mid to late 80's. I had the denim jacket with Def Leppard patches and pins, I used to write Def Leppard on my book covers (just like they had it on their album covers) when I was board in class, and had all their tapes and videos. Def Leppard till about 1987 were pretty cool, and always put on a damn good show.

Luckily my musical tastes changed towards the end of the 80's and found out I liked "New Wave" and "Club Music" better than the "hair bands". I still will go back and listen to the bands above from time to time, but as you can see from my Top 20 Favorite Duo or Groups of All Time blog entry on January 26, 2006 my music tastes have definitley changed for the better.

Top 10 Bands Most People Haven't Heard Of Or Listen To.

Click on band name to find out more or listen to their best album

  1. Anything Box
  2. Red Flag
  3. Kon Kan
  4. Dexter Freebish
  5. Pound.
  6. My Friend Steve
  7. Hubert Kah
  8. Bronski Beat
  9. Icehouse
  10. Dada

Anything Box, the best band that most people haven't heard of. Anything Box started in the late 80's and going through the mid 90's. Through the 90's they played at Six Flag's Astroworld, Radio Station shows, Festivals and Clubs. I have met them four times and you couldn't ask for a nicer group of people.

Anything Box has a great fan base in Houston, if you go to a Anything Box show expect everyone to know all the lyrics to all of their songs.

Anything Box are Claude S., Dania Morales, Paul Rijdners. They took a hiatus in the mid 90's, when Dania left the band and Claude S. started a solo project called The Diary. They reformed without Dania early 2002 as a duo. I recently got to see them again for their reunion tour with Dania on September 2, 2005.

My favorite song is "Jubilation" from the album Peace (1990).

  10. Merlin (1998)
  11. Harry And The Hendersons (1987)

If you don't like E.T. your a horrible person and have no heart! It was a close race between E.T. and The Princess Bride for the number one spot, but Steven Spielberg had to win!

The Princess Bride is just a movie that makes me laugh everytime I see it. Classic lines like "My name is Inigo Montoya, You killed my father, prepare to die!" and Miracle Max's (Billy Crystal) line "Sonny, true love is the greatest thing in the world. Except for a nice MLT, a mutton, lettuce and tomato sandwich, where the mutton is nice and lean and the tomato is ripe. They're so perky, I love that. But that's not what he said. He distinctly said "to blave." And, as we all know, "to blave" means "to bluff." So you're probably playing cards, and he cheated --"If you have not seen it go buy it now! "Inconceivable!"

The Best Bands Of The Last 5 Years

Click on the band name to find out more and hear some samples from their website. Hope you find a new favorite band.

  1. Scissor Sisters
  2. Coldplay
  3. Five For Fighting
  4. Train
  5. Splender
  6. System Of The Down
  7. Semisonic
  8. Velevet Revolver
  9. The Killers
  10. The Bravery

Mix rock, pop, disco, dance, glam and good beats = Scissor Sisters. Lead singers Jake Shears and Ana Matronic, keyboardist/bassist Baby Daddy, guitarist Del Marquis and Derek G, & off course drummer Paddy Boom.

The New York band became famous in the U.K. first with their funky disco-dance version of Pink Floyd's "Comfortablly Numb". When I first listened to their self titled album I immediately heard influneces like The Bee Gee's, Elton John, David Bowie, Robbie Williams and even the B-52's. Even Bono from U2 and Madonna admit liking the Scissor Sisters.

The album is perfect from beginning to end. I highly recommend to see them live, it is a crazy and wild show that will keep you entertained and dancing the whole night.
